Double Knot in Philadelphia is one of those spots you can't miss, especially if you're into great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Raise your hand if you like Asian Fusion like me. Michael Schulson really knows what he's doing. This place is genius. We went on Taco Tuesday and had the tacos, which were solid, but the baked scallop and crab was the show stopped. So good. The smoked Manhattan is a must--it's not just a drink. They really put on a show with it, and it's amazing every time. If you go, ask to sit downstairs. Trust me, that's where the magic is. The upstairs is cool, but the downstairs has this incredible vibe. It's dark, intimate, and just perfect for a night out. Don't miss it.

would be a five star review if i only went once but the second time was not as good as the first time. maybe they're inconsistent idk. come for happy hour for sure i don't think i can justify the prices otherwise again huge fan of a bunch of small dishes so happy hour is great for me the first time i came their salmon roll was the best thing i have ever had it was so melt in your mouth i could not tell the salmon apart from the avocado which is how salmon is meant to be and the fried chicken was also amazing. i think the dishes i was most impressed by were the short rib robatayaki and the salmon avocado roll. the kimchi fried rice is skippable unless you want to be filled up fast and the pork bao was just okay. chicken is most worth is portion size wise unfortunately the second time i went the food was not as impressive. maybe they have different chefs on different days but the roll felt lackluster and so did everything else. the edamame dumplings were a bit underwhelming considering all the hype. it's also quite dark in here and i would've felt awkward to turn on my flashlight for the menu so be prepared to squint. service is fine and i would def come back if i'm ever in philly again

One of my favorite places. We always sit at the chef's sushi counter which makes for a great date night vibe. Tonight the service was a tad slow for the one dish, but other than that the food is usually out super quick. Sushi is consistently bomb and the menu is large. Normally I say you MUST get the real wasabi as an add on, but tonight it was lacking in flavor. Not sure why. Now for the specifics: The crispy tofu was so flavorful and economical for the amount you get! Octopus was phenomenally cooked. The nabemono took awhile to come out but is MASSIVE, full of fish, spicy, and comforting on a cold day. Love this place

The place was very intriguing. We were led downstairs into a dark, dark room where it was difficult to read the menu. The area was lit by real candles via tea light candles and candelabras. The menu was vast, but the server was very helpful in her descriptions. We ordered a few cocktails and decided to get a bunch of various items to share from all the menus. My favorites were definitely the ramen and the waygu dumplings. The toro was delicious too!

Stopped in before an evening show at the Academy of Music and had an excellent dinner with some friends. I had attempted to book a reservation but wasn't able to find one, so I marked the "Notify Me" button and planned to utilize the walk-in upstairs seating if nothing came up. Luckily, we received a call the day and were able to book our table in the main dining room downstairs. After being led down a staircase and through a few hallways, we were seated at a candlelit table in a dim room, which gave a sort of secretive vibe. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and guided us through the menu, reassuring us that even with our tight schedule we could order the 10-dish tasting menu and still make it to our show (which started two hours after our reservation time). Given their extensive menu of offerings, we decided to let the chef make our decisions for us and we were not disappointed, especially since they asked for our preferences and easily accommodated our preference for seafood-leaning proteins and the need for gluten-free options for one of my friends. The only decision I had to make was to order the Zeppelin Blend cocktail, a fruity tequila option with togarashi on the rim, which paired nicely with my meal. Otherwise, we were treated to an absolute feast of Japanese cuisine, kicking off with the Tuna Rice Cracker, which may have been the highlight of the evening for me with its crispy rice and perfect seasoned tuna. A close second was the Crispy Tofu with miso caramel. I also loved the Edamame Dumpling, and would note that we also got to sample the Spicy Baked Scallop and Crab which was brought out as the gluten-free substitution for my friend. My favorite Robatayaki was the Salmon Scallion. Our server caught our "Happy Birthday" cheers at the beginning of the meal and made sure to bring a beautiful sparkler with my friend's dessert --- a nice touch that we didn't even have to arrange. All items were served at a good pace to make good on our server's promise: we were in our seats (with full bellies) by showtime, and I have no doubt that the $68pp price tag is a steal for the amount and quality of food we were served. I can't wait for my next meal here.

Usually go to happy hours at Double Knot and it's absolutely delicious with great deals! Decided to sit in and try their tasting menu. For $68/person, it's 100% worth it. We thoroughly enjoyed each item we got. Would especially recommend the Japanes scallop and braised duck breast. Sushi was fresh! Everyone at the table does have to agree on the same items. Service was great and everyone was attentive. The decoration and ambiance makes you feel like you're dining on a boat.

This restaurant is one of my favorites in all of Philadelphia! The food is fantastic. Every single bite of every thing you order, is packed with flavor. Oh and their Soup dumplings literally (and I use the literal meaning of literal) gave me chills! Sooooo good. Staff is attentive, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about each dish. Ambiance is really cool. Upstairs you have a classy but less formal vibe and Happy Hour, and downstairs you have a low lit speak easy esque atmosphere that's super classy and cool! If you can't tell, I highly recommend this place!

I stopped by Double Knot for happy hour this week, and it held true as one of my favorite happy hours in the city. They have a large selection of small plates and a variety of wine/cocktails to choose from. My favorite dish is the Kim Chee Fried Rice, and the portion is plenty to share between 2 people. We ended up getting 2 glasses of wine each and 5 small plates with a grand total of ~$58 pre-tip. Not a bad deal! I went on a Wednesday around 4:30, so it wasn't all that crowded. However, I would recommend trying to arrive closer to 4pm if you are going on a busier day of the week (Thurs/Fri). One thing that rubbed me the wrong way (and why I am giving 4 stars instead of 5) is that we were told we only had ~1 hour to dine even though happy hour went until 7pm. That being said, no one was pushing us out after an hour but the service did feel a little bit rushed.

There's not a whole lot that I can contribute that's unique or different from the other reviews here. All I can say is WOW!! This place slaps!! 1) Get here for happy hour early. Like 15 minutes early. The line will fill up quickly, and the wait can get crazy. 2) Go for the maitake mushroom. It's so, so, so good. I have no words. 3) Happy hour prices are excellent - especially for the location! 4) It's super cool and trendy, but you are in the dark so don't feel outfit-stressed.
